Inspired by learning the new CSS Grid specification, I decided to try reimagining what the experience of VMware's flagship desktop web client might be like on smaller screens. Using a relevant user journey, I stitched together a complete flow from signing, reviewing a recent notification, and completing the task up enabling a plugin.
With a complete flow, we were able to tell an end-to-end story and demonstrate this for end-users on different devices. We also explored removing feature sets as the devices size scaled down. This prototype generated excitement throughout our design, product, and engineering teams and tested well with our end-users. This has led to a continued effort with tactical steps to make the client more usable on smaller screens.
